Golden Beef is a unique premium beef product produced by a small group of dedicated farmers in Northern Ontario.
Our cooperative is devoted to producing a healthy, leaner beef alternative. Golden beef are raised without the addition of growth promoting hormones or antibiotics.
Golden Beef is raised on forages such as pasture, hay and silage. Since no grain is fed to Golden Beef animals, there is no impact on the use of grain for human food and shipping of feed is eliminated, reducing the consumption of fossil fuels.
Golden Beef is from younger animals to enhance the tenderness and consistency.
We continue to work with university research teams to perfect our product.
- Animals are raised, processed and sold in Northern Ontario
- Animals re never administered any growth promoting hormones
- Animals are raised without the use of antibiotics, either in feed supplements or therapeutically. If animals require treatment, they are disqualified from the program
- Research conducted in Northern Ontario by Agriculture Canada scientists showed elevated levels of vitamin B12 in forage fed beef cattle. Research in Atlantic Canada has shown elevated levels of conjugated linoleic acid (CLA) in beef cattle raised on pasture as compared to a grain based diet.
